Is there much scope in B Tech in Marine engineering, naval architecture and ocean engineering?

Ankit Dahiya Student Expert 20th Apr, 2020
Hello
Marine Engineering deals with design, construction, operation and maintenance of ship functions. It includes almost everything related to the operations of a ship. The field has a great scope in India due to increase in trading through the sea and hence there is a growing need for graduates from this field. It offers great employment opportunities with good pay scale.
Naval Architecture on the other hand is responsible for designing, construction, repairing of ships, boats, of both civil and military kind. It can be called a subset of Marine Engineering.
Ocean Engineering is a different field from the above two, it deals with other aspects of oceans such as trade, minerals, gas, routes, extraction. They have scope in areas such as consultancy, supervision, designing etc.
So, all the three fields are quite apt to be chosen as a career, they offer a promising career growth.

Good luck

IS MARINE ENGINEERING THE BEST COARSE? WHICH COLLEGE HAS HIGH PLACEMENT?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 3rd Apr, 2020

There are as many as 48 colleges offering B.E/BB.Tech in Marine Engineering across India. You can check the list at: https://engineering.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-be-btech-in-marine-engineering-colleges-in-india . Marine engineers are involved in the design, construction and maintenance of vehicles and structures used on or around water. The techniques are used to create cruise ships, harbors and oil platforms. Not every Marine engineer gets to work on a ship. This is a myth. Ship Engineers are the ones who work on the ships travelling to maintain the onboard systems such as steering or control systems. Mostly marine engineers are involved in navigating and exploring the ocean's and lakes. They also support naval defense, environmental research, international trade and resource extraction. We have Indian Martime University which has highest placements for Marine Engineering.
