You can apply for marine engineering by Clearing JEE MAINS into NITs and by JEE Advanced into IITs.
Also except this, there are many other institutions which constitute their own exam for admission into the respective institutions.

Hi,
merchant Navy Marine engineering course is a good cause if you are interested in the specific field for the course you need some special pre-requirements that :
Class 12th with physics, chemistry and maths
Candidates have to be unmarried
Normal vision (or glasses with 2.5 minus or plus can be accepted)
Admission is through entrance test after which you have to give a screening test followed by a Main written test.
after you clear the entrance test you have to undergo a medical and interview test as well.
You also have to complete the ship training course.

After class 12, you can study the following merchant navy courses:
B.E. Petroleum Engineering
Electro Technical Officer Course
B.Sc. Marine Catering
Mechanical Engineering
Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering
B.Sc. Nautical Science
B.E. Electrical & Electronics Engineering
B.E. Civil Engineering

After class 12 you can appear for the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) or the All India Merchant Navy Entrance Exam, other exams  gateways for Marine Engineering are MERI Entrance Exam,JEE and TIMSAT.

IMUCET EXAM DATE FOR MARINE ENGINEERING COURSE

Hello aspirant,

The application form for IMU-CET exam will be tentatively available from the 1st week of April.
It is online based exam conducted once a year for admission into UG courses like B.Tech.
Your admit card will be available for downloading from May 15th. The exam will be tentatively conducted on 1st June and the results will be released by 6th June. The counselling sessions will be schduled from 10th June to 30th June.

HOW TO GET SPONSORSHIP IN MERCHANT NAVY IN MARINE ENGINEERING COURSE

Hello aspirant,

First, a sponsorship test is conducyed twice a year for Class 12 students with PCM Syream( Englush mandatory). This test includes a offline MCQ type exam, a interview and a medical test. Then the candidates are shortlisted based on this.
Then this shortlisted candidates are required to clear IMU-CET after which they ate eligible for the scholarship.

Sorry to say this, i am also one of the people who wanted to be a marine engineer. at every time when i wanted to know a 1  line detail also is not possible in the internet. there is no such good book in the internet. so,i recommend you to go through the previoud year question papers thoroughly and watch the youtube videos to clear your doubts.

There are various factors which determine the cutoff in CUSAT CAT like number of seats sanctioned, difficulty level of the exams, number of qualifying candidates and previous year trends.

The closing rank for naval and marine engineering in the year 2015 was 150.
