Hi Gourab,

As you are in class 12th and you wish to join a college which offers you marine engineering, Tolani is a quite decent option and there are other colleges too based on your choice, preference and other aspects.

Your Medical test comes way below the line the first aspects to get into these colleges is-

  • Apply for IMUCET and clear off the cutoff with a rank under 1500 or so.
  • Once you have done this step then you will have to contact the desired colleges in which you want to complete your degree from.
  • After you have done this, the private colleges would conduct their own entarance test where you will have to clear their cutoff like in case of tolani you will first have to clar off the written test followed by an interveiw where you are reccomended to wear smart formals preferably with a tie.
  • After clearing the entrance test of the institute then you would have to go through a medical examination from the college assigned DG Shipping approved doctors.
  • They will send your report to the college where you can contact the college and give a written statement, stating that you would correct the neccessary changes at the earliest.

Here are some important dates which would be of use to you-

Last date to apply to tolani is 31st may,2019

Which one is so best GME or B.Tech Marine engineering

Surbhi Mehtani 11th Oct, 2018

Hi Vikram

First please know the difference between both the programmes, then decide which one is best for you.

GME or Graduate Marine Engineering is a 1-year programme. You become eligible for this programme if you do B.Tech in Mechanical or Naval Architecture.

Whereas, B.Tech in Marine Engineering will be a 4 years programme.

So, by pursuing B.Tech in Marine Engineering, you can work in that industry only. However, if you pursue GME with a mechanical background, you can work in that field too.

Think wisely basing your interest in the field.

Hope this helps.

All the best!
