Marine Engineering
Hello Ramaih Chowdhary,
In order to do your course in Marine Engineering, you have to give various entrance exams such as JEE for government institutes and several private colleges have their own entrance examinations. The basic qualification required to become a marine engineer is doing a Bachelors course in Marine Engineering. You can also do your Masters and Ph.D. in the same.
Eligibility: For Bachelors those who have done their 10+2 with physics chemistry and Maths are eligible for the course. The minimum percentage is 60% in 10+2 board examinations. For Master’s B.Tech. is compulsory.
Seats are allotted according to the basis of performance on entrance All India CET exams and various state level examinations. Institutions such as Marine Engineering Research Institutes, College of Engineering, Andhra University, International Maritime Academy are some of the top government institutes for Marine Engineering in India. Apart from these, there are several private institutes as well.
Hope this helps!
DMET KOLKATA as they say has been the hub for minting of marine engineers since 1953. It's the only government college which has had a history of producing fine quality of marine engineers. Cadets are groomed under 60 year old training methods, which are still very relevant. Faculties are also well experienced and they totally do justice with their job (Easily Accessible and talented). Cadets now are facing some problems in getting placed in companies because of ineptitude of college in attracting more companies for recruitment. Last year only 9 companies could come to college for campus placement of 240 cadets. Having said that I must also say that if you are meritorious, if you have a sound knowledge of marine machinaries, you, easily without a hitch, would get into a good company.
Tolani Maritime Institute, Pune now seems to lead the industry when it comes to production of skilled marine engineers. Cadets here are less vulnerable to insecurity regarding placements. Being a private institute, premier firms are available for recruitment of cadets. The teachers here too are well experienced and skilled. Cadets have more exposure to new machineries in TMI than in DMET.AMET, Chennai also seems to follow the trends set by TMI.
