Mechanical Engineering
Dear aspirant,
It really depends on you what you want to choose as these are core branches . If you are good with chemistry then I would suggest you to take up chemical engineering branch but if you are good with mathematics and physics then do take up mechanical engineering branch.
So, one can't say that which branch is good. Both these are core branches. But yes, if placements are considered and in an average college mechanical has better placements compared to chemical candidates.
For example, I am now in nit jamshedpur in mechanical branch and its core branches is comparable to the top nits and it's median package for mechanical currently stays between 7-7.5L but for metallurgy its a bit less and usually stays between 6L.
Nope! After Diploma in Mechanical Engineering you can pursue BTech in Mechanical Engineering via Lateral entry examination but not in BSc-CS. For BSc you need to have passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics/ComputerScience/Statistics/Electronics. Now if you have joined diploma after 10 then you have to pursue 12 and if you have passed 12 and joined Diploma then you have to take admission in year 1 of BSc-CS course. BSc CS is a three year UG course.

Hi Aspirant!
The cutoff for each branch/course offered in VIT varies every year depending on the factors such as:
The difficulty level of the VITEEE examination.
Number of candidates who appeared in the exam.
Previous year VITEEE cutoff trends for Btech
Total number of seats on which admissions are offered
But I can give you a rough idea on the basis of previous years records:

Thankyou!
The placements at nit jalandhar is very encouraging even if i consider the placements for branches like textile engineering, production engineering, chemical.
Considering about the mechanical branch, the jobs profiles offered here are of management engineer trainee, analysts for non core and also for data science profile. The average package for the mechanical branch is around 6.6L. Companies like Tata Steel , vedanta, futures first, Deloitte comes for campus placements.
If we talk about the overall average package then it's around 7L-7.5L per annum. Top recruiters were microsoft,Amazon, samsung.
