Mechanical Engineering
Hi aspirant,
Both the private colleges that you have mentioned are well known for their engineering programs all over the country. Kalinga institute of industrial technology ranks 42nd in the latest nirf engineering rankings. You will get an amazing infrastructure here with well equipped lab facilities. The faculties are highly qualified and have indepth knowledge of their subjects. You will have to pay around 3.5 lacs per annum for the mechanical engineering program. The average package for the same is around 4.5-5 lacs per annum.
SRM kattankulathur has a lot of similarities to that of KIIT. The parameters where SRM edges over KIIT is the lower fee structure and the high reputation it has build around in years. SRM ranks 41st in the engineering rankings just above KIIT. You can get detailed review of both the colleges at https://www.careers360.com/university/kalinga-institute-of-industrial-technology-bhubaneswar/reviews

You can prefer other colleges such as Manipal, MSRIT, PES, RVCE for mechanical engineering.
Hope it helps!!
hi,
see jee advance rank is evaluated to admission in IITs , there is also sectional cutoff and aggregate cutoff to secure rank in jee advance. as per 2020 data, obc ncl cutoff was as follows,
Minimum Marks in Each Subject- 5
Minimum Aggregate Marks- 62
some of the iits closing rank for mechanical engineering is as follows:
IIT bhubaneswar- ME- obc ncl- closing rank -6273
iit delhi- ME- obc ncl- closing rank -917
IIT kanpur - ME- obc ncl- closing rank- 3916
hope it would help.
Hey,
I am answering the question seeing the current trends.
To be very honest the job or placement prospect in mechanical branch is not that good currently as compared to the electronics and computer science branch.
The students of Mechanical engineering are themselves working in other branches and that makes it pretty obvious that you should not be going with mechanical branch.
The computer science branch is in huge demand and will definitely help you grab a good placement so I will suggest that your daughter should go for Electronics and computer science in KIIT rather than mechanical in VIT, Chennai.
Hope that helps.
All the very best.
Thank you.
Hi sir,
You better have mentioned the fee category she got at VIT. With the mentioned rank in SRMJEE, getting top branches such as CSE, IT at KTR that is the main campus of SRM institute of sciences and technology would not be possible. She will be getting other branches, through a counselling process where choice filling for the preferences is done. I would personally suggest to stick with Vellore institute of technology, Chennai as it edges over SRM in several aspects. VIT provides better infrastructure, faculties, job opportunities and has excellent placement records.
The average package for engineering at SRM is around 4.5-5 lacs while it is around 7 lacs for VIT. Vellore institute of technology has been ranked 15th by NIRF in engineering rankings which is way higher than 43rd of SRM.
Personal note- You should turn towards SRM if your daughter has got a seat in fourth or fifth category as then you will get better return of investments.
Hello,
The marks which you have mentioned is a decent one and as you are looking for the Mechanical field which is also one of the oldest and considered as the Core Engineering field so you can definitely try for the admission in Amravati, AP campus in this particular rank because they are also a recognised and well maintained college. Now i guess for securing Scholarship you should really have a very very high score or you should lie that criteria which have been made by the colleges, so if you want to know complete details regarding which scholarship provided and how to avail it than you can simply contact the college for the same and they try to solve your all queries.
Thank you..
DEAR STUDENT
Your rank is not suitable for any of the vellore campuses ,if you desire to grab mechanical core branch. You need much lower rank to do so.

Hi Aspirant,
Selecting a branch always depends on your interest in the course of that branch. If you like technical theory, networking, programming, and computer related things, you can go for IT. If you like to combine creativity, knowledge and analytical tools to complete the difficult task of shaping an idea into reality, you can go for Mechanical Engineering.
Now coming to the college selection, most of the person selects a college depending on how huge their placements are. Placement of CSE & IT in AIT are really good comparing to many of the other prominent colleges. Also PEC has a brand value and as per reports the placement for Mechanical engineering is very high with about 95% placement in core only. The highest packages keep on increasing every year and you will get placements in PEC unless you do really bad there.

Hope this helps.
Good luck!!!

Hello Gaurang,
Vellore institute of technology (VIT), is an AICTE approved college with NAAC A grade. Since you have mentioned the specialization I'm guessing you are talking about M.Tech however your bio says you are currently in 12th so I will provide information on both Btech mechanical engineering as well as M.Tech mechanical engineering in manufacturing engineering.
M.Tech mechanical engineering in manufacturing engineering is a two years long full time post graduate degree course. About 60% students get placed every year from this stream of engineering from VIT. Highest package offered was 30 LPA for the previous year. Average package offered was 6-7 LPA. The top recruiters include Amazon, PayPal, Intel, Reliance etc.
Btech mechanical engineering is a four years long undergraduate degree course. Highest package offered was 9-12 LPA. The average package offered was 4-5 LPA. Mostly IT companies recruit from Btech candidates.
Hope this helps and Good luck
