Hello.
To become an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer in India, you need to crack the Union public service commission (UPSC) examination held every year. It is a very competitive exam and almost 3 lakh candidates appear every year. You need to work hard in order to get a high rank. The exam is conducted in three stages: 1) Preliminary Examination 2) Main Examination 3) Final Interview. You have to clear the preliminary exam first.
Eligibility: To be eligible for writing UPSC, the candidate must have a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification. Those in the final year of a degree course can also appear in the Preliminary Examination conducted every year.
Age Limit: A candidate should be between the ages of 21 years- 32 years on 1st August.

Hello Aspirant,
If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2020 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your rank is expected to be in the range of 23938 - 26910 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile
Or
You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-
https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor
As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that the closing rank for NIT Trichy was 17694 for Mechanical Engineering branch in NIT Trichy under Home state quota for General category. So you have quite less chances to get NIT Trichy with Mechanical engineering even if you have Home state quota. But yes if you improve your percentile in any further session of JEE-Main like around 98-98.5 then you might have a shot at NIT Trichy with Mechanical engineering.
You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

Yes after completing diploma you can go for lateral entry without further wasting your precious time.
Lateral entry is offered in many colleges and talking about Delhi there are two that offer this platform.
IPU AND DTU these two universities offer lateral entry programs.
And for that you have to give entrance exam and pass with a good score .
IPU has many colleges under it and it's good with low fees and satisfying facilities.
Whereas DTU has much better facilities and placement are excellent.
If you go outside Delhi there are good colleges too that offer lateral entry direct admission you can throughly search and decide.
The good colleges for lateral entry are Anna University, Tamil Nadu; Jadavpur University, Kolkata; Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Punjab; PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore; Amity University, Uttar Pradesh; Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal and many others

If we go through the analysis of previous year's GATE score Vs College allotment than according to the GATE 2021 score mentioned by you in the query you have very less chances of getting any of the IITs or NITs because their cut-offs are somewhere around 500-520(590+ for IITs) GATE score for EWS category so I would recommend you to go with some private colleges in states like Andhra Pradesh , Telangana and some others because some private colleges also accept admission on the basis of GATE score.
