how many marks required to get seat in iit Bombay in jee advanced mechanical engineering

Sharon Rose Student Expert 30th Mar, 2021

Hello,

You have not mentioned your category. Here is the cut off in 2020 JoSAA round 6 for admission in to Mechanical Engineering in IIT, Bombay

  • Unreserved:1129
  • SC:386
  • ST:304
  • EWS: 289
  • OBC-NCL: 768
  • PWD: 17

Considering the previous year cut off you need to score minimum 60-65% of total score to have decent chances of getting seat in the preferred IIT and branch if you belong to general category, if you belong to SC/ST you need to score minimum 50-55% of total score, if you belong to EWS/OBC-NCL category you need to score minimum 55%-58% of total score. This is because the total marks for JEE Advanced changes every year, if you belong to PWD category you need to score 40% of the total score or above. This is an estimated score. Cut off also changes every year depending on various factors like number of candidates appeared difficulty level of exam and number of seats available etc.

I am a general category, delhi student, I have scored 86.316 %ile in JEE Mains 2021 March. Are there any chances for me to get admission in DTU/NSIT Mechanical engineering or MAM ? If not then any other branch and what is the expected percentile for those articular colleges and branch?? plz ans..

aditya 29th Mar, 2021

Hello Aditya

I hope you are doing good. I would like to tell you that at your percentile your estimated  will be around 141000 . At this rank it would be very difficult to get admission in DTU ,NSIT or even at mam with general category. In order to get admission in these reputed colleges your all india rank should be below 20000 . My personal advise is to prepare for next attempt by making a proper roadmap because i think you will need to study atleast 10 hours with pure dedication.

you can use JEE-Main College Predictor to predict your chances of admission in different engineering colleges of India :-

I am Delhi student, general I want Mechanical Engineering or MAM in DTU or NSIT. What is expected percentile so I can get admmision in one of those? And what is the expected score required for that percentile in JEE mains April ??

Sharon Rose Student Expert 29th Mar, 2021

Hello,

Please check the cut off in 2020 for JAC round 5 counselling for general category to get admission in Mechanical Engineering

  • DTU: 40880
  • NSUT: 50277

It is difficult to predict the exact percentile or score. Because the marks vs rank vs percentile trends changes every year depending on total number of candidates appeared, highest score, tie breakers etc.

Based on rank predictor tool which works as per previous year data you need to score 97-98 percentile to score a rank within 50,000. And to score such percentile your ideal score must be minimum 150-190 marks or above in JEE main. This is an estimated score.

Cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on factors like number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of exam and number of seats available etc.

We have JEE Main knockout package. If you want to prepare for JEE Main upcoming sessions you can check the details and enroll

Ive got 98.51 percentile in Feb 2021 mains and belongs to OBC. where can I get a seat in engineering physics or mechanical engineering.and what will be my category rank.

Sowmya Konkala 29th Mar, 2021

hello aspirant,

98.51 percentile  could fetch you a rank around 15243-17135 and obc ncl category rank around 4000-5000 .now these are based on previous year analysis .As of now its tough to say because the analysis and also cutoffs change every year due to many factors like total students appearing for exam, difficulty level of paper etc.based on your rank you have fair chances to fetch seat in government colleges like nits, iiits.you have chances to fetch seat in nit harimpur for engineering physics.and nit jalandar, mnit jaipur, nit bhopal, nit agartala, nit durgapur etc for mechanical  engineering and many other nits.now this analysis is based on round 6 closing ranks of last year.but each year as cutoff changes so are your chances into colleges.however once check your homestate cutoff for nits.you can get closing rank for josaa official website: https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

.for more information to get a personalised report on what all chances you have for your rank refer to: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer

hope this helps,

thankyou.

i have passed 12th pcb from cbse ...now i want to do mechanical engineering . i did not have maths as additional subject. by nios do i have to give exam of only maths or i have to give exams of all pcm again by nios? to become eligible for btech .also explain procedure for nios

darshita 27th Mar, 2021

Hello,

For pursuing mechanical engineering course the basic requirements is maths along with other two subjects physics and chemistry.

Without this no institutions is going to admit you.

And there is no facility of doing one subject in open learning or distance learning you have do your class 12 again to gain the certification.

Secondly you can give maths paper alone as a certificate course. You can give the mathematics paper from NIOS as these certificates are valid, recognized and at par with the other national and state boards of school eduction.

Or you can opt for another route that is diploma and the lateral entry into your mechanical branch.
