in NITK SURATHKAL SEAT MATRIX UNDER OPEN -PWD CATEGORY FOR ECE BRANCH only female only supernumery seat is mentioned.. does this mean gender - neutral seat is not available for thar branch under that category??

Aryan 6th Oct, 2025

Hi dear candidate,

It is NOT necessarily be the case that there are no gender neutral seats available under ECE and PwD category as there is a limit of reserving seats for a specific category like "female only PwD" because there can be a limit beyond and below it.

It is always better to check the latest seat matrix, kindly refer to the link below:

What should be the cut off marks or percentile for GEN -PWD category HOME STATE QUOTA at NITK - CSE branch

SEJAL JAIN 19th Sep, 2025

Hello

For the GEN-PwD category, Home State quota at NITK CSE, cutoffs are lower than General.
You may need a percentile of around 95–97 in JEE Main for a safe chance.
Closing rank is usually around 20,000–40,000, depending on seat availability.
Cutoffs can vary each year based on difficulty level and number of applicants.
Being a home state candidate improves your chances slightly.
It’s best to check JoSAA Round 6 cutoffs for the latest year for accuracy.
Always apply in counseling — cutoffs may drop in later rounds.

What should be the cut off marks or percentile for GEN -PWD category HOME STATE QUOTA at NITK - CSE branch

Chelsie G 19th Sep, 2025

Hello! For admission to the CSE branch at NITK under the GEN PWD category with Home State quota, the cutoff is usually much lower than the general category. Based on past trends, you should aim for around 85–90 percentile or higher in JEE Main to have a good chance, though the exact cutoff may vary each year with seat availability.

is nit surathkal civil ,or RV college EEE which cource is best

Kishan Bhakat 12th Jun, 2025

hi,

Both NIT Surathkal Civil and RV College EEE are good, but your choice should depend on your interest and future plans.

If you want the NIT tag, a strong campus, and are thinking about higher studies or government jobs, NIT Surathkal Civil is a solid option. It may not have the highest private placements compared to other branches, but it gives you good long-term value.

If you are looking for better placement chances in the private sector and want to explore jobs in core companies or even IT, RV College EEE is a smart choice. EEE also gives you flexibility to move into software jobs if you learn some coding along the way.

sir i want to pursue m tech in mit but i also want to pursue b tech in iit bombay i got 98.67 in jee mains 2025(i will get EEE/ECE in nit surathkal) but i will not get iit should i take a drop year to prepare for jee advance 2026?

gopi 31st May, 2025

Hello Bhuvan,

This is a personal decision based on a few important components:

  1. Goal Clarity: If IIT Bombay is your dream school and you feel you can prepare for the next iteration of JEE Advanced, dropping a year to study for JEE Advanced is a reasonable option. A dedicated and focused drop year has helped many students achieve great scores on JEE Advanced, and the top ranks.
  2. Current Opportunity: NIT Surathkal is one of the top NITs with opportunities for excellent placements, research opportunities, and the opportunity for interactions with top companies - especially for ECE/EEE. After that, with good academics, you can potentially earn your way into top M.Tech programs like MIT, Stanford, or IITs via GATE or GRE.
  3. Risk vs Reward: Dropping a year has a risk component: mental and academic risk. Think about whether you can handle that level of pressure and if your performance at JEE Advanced can improve with one more year of preparation.
  4. Ambition for MIT M.Tech: For M.Tech, you don't need an IIT degree to get into MIT. Strong research and projects, GRE scores, and thoughtful and compelling YES at SOP matter more than an IIT degree. Many students from top NITs get into MIT and other institutions throughout the world.

U have scored 97.44 percentile and I have a sc rank of 1126.Can I get into Nitk Surathkal college for cse branch

Prachi Kumari 28th Jun, 2025

Hello,

With 97.44 percentile and SC rank 1126, getting CSE in NITK Surathkal is very difficult. CSE cut-off for SC category in NITK usually closes at a much lower rank. You may try for other lower branches or other NITs where CSE cut-off is higher.

Hope it helps !

according to the gate elegibility criteria 3 years bsc programs students can apply for gate exam but in what institutes they can take admission via gate score and in which programm

Akansha Sharma 12th May, 2025

Students with a 3-year B.Sc. degree can apply for the GATE exam. However, the eligibility for admission through GATE scores depends on the program and institution. B.Sc. graduates can apply for Master's programs like M.Tech at institutions such as IITs, IISc, and some NITs, but most IITs require a B.Tech for direct M.Tech admissions. IISc offers Integrated Ph.D. programs, and some NITs may accept B.Sc. graduates for specific programs. Ensure you check the specific eligibility criteria for each institute and program.

Iam a dropper student who has scored 98+%ile in jee mains ...If i wish to join NITK through home state quota in lower branch and reppearfor jee mains 2026, can i get admission into same NITK in better branch if my score is good enough? Ive asked this because some NITians say you cant join same NIT

Afreen 14th Apr, 2025

Yes, it is possible to gain admission to the same NITK in a better branch if you score well on JEE Main 2026, even if you have previously been admitted to the same NITK through a lower branch via home state quota. Your past admission does not preclude you from reapplying and securing a better branch if your JEE Main 2026 score is competitive.

Explanation:

JEE Main's Admission Process:

JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance exam used for admission to NITs and other participating institutions.

Home State Quota:

Home state quota allows students to get preferential admission in NITs based on their state of origin.

No Restriction on Re-admission:

While a student might have been admitted to a specific branch and NIT initially, there is no rule preventing them from reapplying for the same NIT and potentially securing a better branch based on their performance in a subsequent JEE Main exam.

Score-Based Admission:

Admission to NITs is primarily determined by your JEE Main score and your overall rank compared to other candidates.

Higher Score, Better Branch:

A higher JEE Main score will increase your chances of getting into your preferred branch, even within the same NITK.

Considerations:

Rank: Even with home state quota, the overall rank and category-wise cutoffs within NITK play a crucial role in determining which branch you are offered.

Branch Preferences: During the counselling process, you will have the opportunity to express your branch preferences, and the higher your score, the better your chances of getting your top choices.

Cutoffs: Understand the cutoffs for different branches and categories in NITK for previous years to get a better understanding of the competition.

In summary: You can absolutely try for a better branch at NITK by taking JEE Main 2026. Your current admission does not prevent you from reapplying and getting a better branch based on your score.
