Genetic counsellors work as members of a healthcare team, providing individuals and families with information on the nature, inheritance, and implications of genetic disorders to help them make informed medical and personal decisions. Eligibility:

• Becoming a genetics counselor requires an advanced degree, but before that you need a bachelors degree. The most common major fields include the medical sciences, psychology, and healthcare.

• If you do not major in one of those fields, you should at least have completed undergraduate coursework in the fields of biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, statistics, and psychology.
