I have enrolled in NIOS for senior secondary. Am I eligible to write CLAT ? Does all law colleges give admission to NIOS students? Please
Yes, you are eligible to write CLAT. Students passed out from NIOS board can write any professional body exam such as CLAT, Engineering, Medical, etc and every university must accept students from open schooling. “The Secondary/Sr.Secondary certificate obtained from NIOS have the same recognition as certificates issued by other Boards. NIOS is vested with the authority to conduct Public Examinations at Secondary and Sr. Secondary level vide Govt. of India's resolution dated 14 September 1990. NIOS thus act as another National Board”.
Dear Saraswathy G,
Sorry that you met an accident and could not attend your normal schooling. But it's good and great that you went for NIOS and did not waste a year.
I am also glad that you queried for CLAT and are chosing a career in law domain. Once you qulaify 12th examination or any equivalent examination for that reference, even NIOS, you are eligible to sit for CLAT.
However, the qualifying marks should be 45 per cent in the 12th examination (for General, OBC, Specially Abled Persons, NRI and NRI Sponsored) and 40 per cent (in case of SC, ST categories).
So be happy and concentrate on preparing for CLAT as well qualifying 12th board examination with good marks. You have almost six months from now for CLAT and it is enough if you prepare strategically and make every minute count.
All the best! Keep questioning and build a knowledge bank. Thank you.
