I joined RVCE CSE in 2015 with a heavy heart and without much interest because I’d failed to get a decent rank in the JEE Main/Advanced.
But, in the one year that I spent there. I found out that many ideas I had about the college were pretty wrong. The Campus itself is amongst one of the better ones in Bangalore. It is well organised and maintained(if not new and appealing). You have lots of opportunities to learn from different kinds of people, different teachers and also on your own. The college has many clubs to keep you busy if you aren’t that interested in the academic part of it (which I personally feel can be improved). The placements here are also better than most other colleges in Bangalore mainly because it is well established and have many experienced professors to guide you through everything. The food court gives really tasty food and also at a cheap price. The people are nice and you’ll find all kinds of them here (Smartest Maniacs to dumbest bimbos). This is something I personally liked. the whole spectrum of people here and the way they manage their college life without getting too stressed on academics is worth watching. Sports is also a very good here. You will find people who play their sport really well and you have quite lot of opportunity to improve your skills in the sport required. There are many more pros to being in one of the better colleges in Bangalore. But, a rose comes with it’s thorns. There are many students who don’t really care of what goes on in college academic-wise and only think of going out or bunking classes, getting drunk etc. This brings down the average quality of students at RVCE. Although in the orientation programme, they say it is learning oriented. It is not that straight forward. The rules make the study experience like school again. And we all know how the Indian Education system is. The Academics part has some seriously shitty rules which can be very irritating from the student’s point of view. Also, not all professors here are very knowledgeable about their subject itself. You might get screwed for not wearing the ID card or wearing a shirt with no collar.
The place is also a little far from the city which makes travel a little difficult. But not to worry, our people have developed apps to help you commute(Pool with people of similar locality). There is also a food app for the canteen which can really help on a crowded day. So all in all. It is a good college amongst the rest in Bangalore and I would recommend it to someone who’d want to join and are making the RV vs PESU decision.
