I've personally experienced that a simple "Don't worry child, just give your best and keep moving forward!" came as a huge sign of relief to me whenever I didn't perform well in my institute level examinations.
What you as a parent can do is, meet people whose kids have been through this phase, get to know their personal experiences during the phase of their preparation and how they dealt with it (I strongly feel that every family has a story to share, because a child's success is not just his but of his entire family).
Keep boosting your child's morale, this is VERY important. You as a parent know you child's potential well, PLEASE do not pressurise him to perform beyond his capabilities. Keeping that in mind, also ensure that your boy doesn't become complacent. The key is to maintain a fine balance between both the sides. Maintain a healthy atmosphere at your home so that your child is mentally peaceful when he is home.
I've only shared my personal experiences here. This was all my parents could do for me when I was preparing for my medical entrance examinations and their efforts paid off pretty well! They are now proud parents of a medicine student who is happy to help many others so that they can also reach their desired destination just like I did.
Hope this helps!
I totally get Ur nervousness to make sure Ur son reaches his dream ...but anything a parent advices at this time " study more " types will just make him more frustrated ...but making sure that he shares his mind when he is stressed is very important . Also acknowledging his emotions and mistakes play an important role . The rest include the obvious
1) smart study with breaks
2) timer to make sure he can finish the paper
3) smart attempting of questions to prevent negative marking
4) concentration on specific topics that are more likely to occur
5) division of time based on his strengths and weakness
