sir, i passed hs this year and now i am reading ba hons 1st year.can i eligible for clat examination 2019?
Dear Aishanee Ghatak,
Felt good to receive your query. You know why? Whenever, I find law aspirants like you posting questions related to law entrance examinations, be it for five-year integrated or three-year LLB, I am glad to see that the generation is breaking the monotony with a mentality while moving towards the professions other than engineering and medicine.
Well, thank you for posting in a beautiful question which would not help you but others too like you who might be in similar confusion.
Now let’s come to your query. But before answering your question, I would like you to answer mine as you go through this.
Why do you wish to make a career in law? What motivates you to choose law as a career to study? Where do you wish to see yourself in next couple of years?
As you told that you’re just in the first year of your BA (Hons.), I can ask you to go for CLAT. Else I would not have, if you might be in the second year or the final year.
Reason? Quite simple, why waster another five years by going through CLAT, when you can have your three-year LLB degree just after you’re a graduate.
Exactly, CLAT is best suited for them who have just passed their 10+2 so that it saves one year of getting the LLB degree.
Through CLAT, you’re offered a five-year integrated law programme, which means while you’ll graduate with an LLB degree it would be an integrated one, either with BA (Hons) or BCom (Hons) or BSc (Hons) or BBA.
However, the three-year LLB degree programme can also be pursued after you’re a graduate, but this will also take one extra year.
Three years of grad school and another three years of LLB, total six; wherein after your 10+2 you can have the LLB degree through qualifying CLAT and other like examinations in just five years, saving the one, with an integrated LLB programme.
There is no age bar to pursue LLB programme, wither you go through CLAT way or traditional 3-year LLB way.
I hope this clears yours doubt. In case there is still something remaining, feel free to counter-question me.
Till then, keep asking questions and knowing their answers. It’s a good practice, all you need to do is just ask!
All the best!
Thank you.
