Admission to NIT, Agartala is made in accordance with the instructions received from the
Ministry of Education (MoE), formerly the Ministry of Human Resources Development
(MHRD), Government of India from time to time. Seats are reserved for candidates
belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, physically challenged candidates and
other backward communities as per the guidelines issued from Ministry of Education
(MoE).

Admission to all courses is made in the odd semester of each session at the first year level
through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by the National Testing Agency
(NTA) Ministry of Education, Govt of India

Admission to the Bachelor of Technology Programme (B.Tech) is conducted on the basis of valid JEE Main scores and through the joint seat allocations made by Joint Seat allocation Authority (JoSSA)/CSAB.

A Candidate for admission to the four-year degree course in Engineering must have passed the Intermediate examination (10+2) of the Board of Intermediate Education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as subjects or any other examination.

Candidate should have secured at least 50% marks in the 12th class exam, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class exam conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 45% in the 12th Class exam.
