    Admission Details

    An admission to MCA Programme is based on the scores in NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET).

    There shall be an Entrance Examination for admission to the MCA Programme. Candidates must write Eligibility test PGCET (conducted for Karnataka Students only) / CMAT / KMAT (Management Quota for all students) conducted by KEA / AICTE / KPPGCA respectively every year and notified separately by each organization. For Government seats, ranks obtained in PGCET entrance exam shall be considered. For Management seats, ranks obtained in PGCET/ CMAT / KMAT entrance exam shall be considered.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates, with 60% marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor’s degree of Full Time 3 years duration from a recognized University with Mathematics / Statistics / Business Maths. as one of the subjects in any one semester/year, both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible. For SC/ST candidates the percentage of marks required is 55%(6.0/10 CGPA). Those candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examinations are also eligible to appear for the test. However, they will have to furnish proof of having passed in the qualifying examination, with 60% marks, at the time of counselling /admission. Indian Nationals only are eligible to appear for the NIMCET.

    Master of Computer Application programme the candidates shall have passed Bachelor Degree with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate of all years of degree examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Programm ing or Computer Applications or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional or electives. However, in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Category - I, the marks shall be not less than 45%. Provided further , as specified in the first proviso the candidate should have studied and passed Mathematics as a subject of study either at degree level or at l0+2 level with 50% of marks. However, in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and Category - I, 45% of marks in that subject shall be eligible for Admission.

    MCA Programme (Lateral Entry)

    Under lateral entry, admission to II year / III semester MCA course shall be open to the candidates who are holders of Bachelor's Degree from recognized University in BCA and B.Sc. (IT / CS) or equivalent qualification and who have secured not less than 50% of marks in aggregate of all the years of degree examinations. Provided that the candidates seeking Admission to II year / III semester MCA course as specified in the first proviso, should have studied and passed Mathematics as a subject of study either at degree level or at l0+2 level. Admission for the lateral entry is through KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) counseling.
