Admission shall be made on merit based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination or any other selection process as per the policy of the state government/U.T. Administration and the university.

Candidates who have passed a Bachelor’s Degree examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for the General Category and 45% for reserved categories (SC/ST and others as per State Government norms). The qualifying degree must be in the faculties of Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, or Music and Fine Arts, as conducted by the University of Jammu or any other university recognized as equivalent. A four-year bachelor's degree from a recognized university is also acceptable.

• A candidate who is enrolled in the B.Ed. The course shall not be permitted to pursue any other course of study or appear in any other examination of the university during the duration of the B.Ed. program.
• Candidates who have completed their Bachelor's degree with only two subjects are not eligible for admission. The candidate must have passed a Bachelor's examination with at least four subjects in any stream (B.Sc., B.Com., or B.A.) for admission to the B.Ed. course.

Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor’s degree and/or in the Master’s degree in sciences/social sciences/humanity, Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in science and mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the program.
