The candidates are selected according to merit. The Candidates are chosen based on the Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by Technical Education, Assam, on a merit basis from the Combined Examination conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam.

The Candidate achieved at least 50% in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (45% for Scheduled Castes and 40% for Scheduled Tribes).

• The candidate must pass the Qualifying Examination (10+2 Standard ) in a single sitting. without any grace marks in the Mandatory relevant subject/ courses at 10+2 level, and also must be passed individually both in theory & Practical (Refer Annexure I).
• Candidate must secure a minimum of 45% (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category in the subjects taken together) in the Qualifying Examination (10+2 standards) as per AICTE Approval Process Hand Book-2024-2027 (Refer Annexure I).
• A candidate who passed a 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology under the State Council for Technical Education, Assam, with 45% (40% for reserved category) marks in the final Diploma Examination.
• The candidate must not be below 17 years on the date of Admission. There is no maximum age limit.
