Candidates have to obtain a valid score in JEE/CEE or R-JEE (Royal Joint Entrance Examinations) followed by a Personal Interview.

Candidates for the general seats shall be selected strictly based on the merit of the Common Entrance Examination (CEE).

i) 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board/Council.
ii) With Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/ Biology or any other technical vocational subject as optional, and
iii) Having a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade taking Physics, Mathematics, and any one of the above optional subjects together (5% relaxation to SC/ST/OBC-Non Creamy Layer).

1. The applicant should qualify for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE)
2. Selection is based completely on the CEE Score.
• In addition, the student must complete H.S.S.L.C or its equivalent for entry to the first year
• For admission to the second year, the student must obtain a Diploma in Engineering.
3. Be an Indian Citizen, and a permanent resident of Assam.
4. The eligible candidate must clear the following subjects, viz., English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, in the same sitting. The minimum aggregate for a general candidate is 50% (45% in the case of Schedule castes and 40% in the case of Schedule Tribes)
5. The eligible candidate must not be above 21 years or below 17 years of age on the first of August of the year in which the candidate seeks admission. The upper age limit mentioned above is relaxed to 22 years in the case of B.Sc. passed candidates, and by 3 years for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe candidates.
6. Must be of good moral character.
7. Must be physically and mentally fit.
