The admission is based on the entrance exams: KEA / COMED-K.

• The Government of Karnataka conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission into various professional courses for students of Karnataka. The CET is generally conducted during April / May and the notification will appear in all leading newspapers. RNSIT is in the list of top most engineering colleges in Karnataka.
• A merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance in PUC/XII Std. and CET.
• Seat matrix is announced indicating seats available in different colleges in different branches based on the sanctioned intake.
• Admissions are made according to merit, subject to reservations to various categories.
• Students called for documents verification on a particular day and the same will be announced on CET Website.

• FOR GENERAL MERIT CANDIDATES: A candidate who has Passed in 2nd PUC / 12 Std / Equivalent Examination with English as one of the Language and obtained a Minimum of 45% of Marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio Technology / Biology / Computer Science / Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible to pursue in under graduate programs (BE).
• FOR SC/ST & OBC (Cat-I, 2A, 2B, 3A 3B) CATEGORY CANDIDATES: A candidate who has Passed in 2nd PUC / 12 Std / Equivalent Examination with English as one of the Language and obtained a Minimum of 40% of Marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio Technology / Biology / Computer Science / Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible to pursue in under graduate pogroms (BE). The marks obtained by the candidate in Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science / Electronics in the qualifying examination will be considered in place of Chemistry in case the marks obtained in Chemistry are less than the required aggregate percentage for the pursuit of determination of eligibility.

Three Years Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. – Lateral Entry Scheme) Programs:

• A candidate who has passed the Qualifying Examination i.e. any diploma examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 45 % ( for General Merit Candidates) of marks taken together in all the subjects of the final year (i.e., fifth and six semesters) diploma examination (Q E) is eligible for admission to B E-Courses and 40% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Backward Classes of Karnataka Candidates.

Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma (in Engineering and Technology) examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.
