Candidates for the general seats shall be selected strictly based on the merit of the Common Entrance Examination (CEE).

The student has passed the 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to the reserved category) in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma (in Engineering and Technology) examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.

1. The applicant should qualify for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE)
2. Selection is based completely on the CEE Score.
• In addition, the student must complete H.S.S.L.C or its equivalent for entry to the first year
• For admission to the second year, the student must obtain a Diploma in Engineering.
3. Be an Indian Citizen, and a permanent resident of Assam.
4. The eligible candidate must clear the following subjects, viz., English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, in the same sitting. The minimum aggregate for a general candidate is 50% (45% in the case of Schedule castes and 40% in the case of Schedule Tribes)
5. The eligible candidate must not be above 21 years or below 17 years of age on the first of August of the year in which the candidate seeks admission. The upper age limit mentioned above is relaxed to 22 years in the case of B.Sc. passed candidates, and by 3 years for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe candidates.
6. Must be of good moral character.
7. Must be physically and mentally fit.
