Admission to the institute a candidate must valid rank of qualifying examination (WBJEE/JEE(Main)/CEE-AMPAI-WB).

• Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age. There is no upper age limit. 
• Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board with: 
• Individual pass marks in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science) 
• Minimum of 45% marks in the Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science) taken together as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks in the said qualifying examination.

Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma (in Engineering and Technology) examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.
