The goal of our assessment process is to select the best performing and well-rounded applicants who can contribute to and enhance the learning experience at FLAME University. We have an internal assessment process that considers the following aspects of your application:

• Admission Test (FDAT / UCEED / NIFT / NID)
• Online Personal Interview
• Past Academic Record
• Extracurricular Activities/ Professional Achievements
• Statement of Purpose (SOP)

We shortlist candidates based on their overall performance on all the parameters listed above. As an applicant, if you score below average in one of the parameters, but your application is strong in other aspects, chances are you might still get an offer from FLAME University. Obviously, the higher the test score, the better your chances of getting an offer letter. Your chances of selection are brighter if you have a strong academic record, a well-articulated SOP, and extracurricular/ professional achievements.

The selection process for students interested in pursuing B.Des Industrial and Product Design at UPES is based on performance in National Level Exams (NID/NIFT/UCEED/JEE-Mains) / UPESDAT / Board Merit / CUET, followed by a Portfolio Presentation and Interview Round.

• The minimum eligibility to apply to FLAME University’s undergraduate program is the following:
  • In the case of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (or an equivalent qualification) or State Boards, CBSE and CISCE (Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations), the applicant should have passed the 12th standard final examination.
  • In the case of International Baccalaureate (IB) students, the IB Diploma is the minimum eligibility for admission.
  • An ‘A’ Level certificate is the minimum requirement in the case of Cambridge students (GCE/IGCSE/GCSE examinations of the approved British Examination Bodies), with:

    • 5 (five) subjects in A, B, and C grades including English at Ordinary (‘O’) level, and
    • 3 (three) subjects at Advanced ('A') level.
  • In case of a high school diploma awarded by an accredited American school / international school in other countries following the American system of education accredited either by the State Departments of Education or by one of the following Six Regional Accrediting Agencies in the USA:
    • Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges
    • New England Association of Schools and Colleges
    • North Central Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Southern Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Western Association of Schools and Colleges
• Applicants who have obtained 10+2 equivalent qualification from a foreign university / board / institution, other than above, are required to submit an equivalence certificate issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi along with the application.
• Candidates currently enrolled/studying in their 12th standard or equivalent class can also apply, provided they can produce their 12th passing certificate / mark sheet before 30th September 2026. Admission of such a candidate shall be strictly provisional till s/he submits a valid proof of passing the 12th or equivalent level examination before the prescribed last date, failing which the admission shall automatically stand withdrawn without any further notice.
• The applicant should be less than 21 years of age as on July 31, 2026.
• FDAT is optional for those who have UCEED/ NIFT / NID scores. We do not specify a cut-off score for UCEED/ NIFT / NID, which would guarantee admission in FLAME, as the UCEED/ NIFT / NID score is only one of the parameters we consider for selection. Needless to say, a high entrance test score improves one’s chances of selection.

The minimum eligibility criteria for B.Des Industrial and Product Design is a minimum of 50% marks in Class X and Class XII (any stream)
