Do I need to get a separate guide book for preparing BITSAT, if so where from I will get it. Do you provide any support in this regard?

anushkasrivastava073 20th Aug, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

If you are preparing for JEE you will automatically be prepared for all other exams like WBJEE, Comedk, BITSAT, etc. The syllabus for all these exams is 98% similar to JEE. Also, the difficulty level of these exams are less than JEE. So, you can easily crack all these exams if you are studying sincerely.

For BITSAT the only extra effort you need to put is solving BITSAT Mocks. In BITSAT exam, you have to solve 130 questions in 3 hours whereas in JEE Mains you have to solve 75 questions in 3 hours. So, the most important thing in BITSAT is speed and accuracy. One month before the exam, solve one BISAT mock daily and analyze your speed, and accuracy and learn to manage your time. The level of difficulty of BITSAT is comparatively lesser than JEE Mains. If you study sincerely, you can easily crack the exam.

The syllabus for PCM is the same for BITSAT and JEE Mains. However, in BITSAT you have two extra sections- English and Logical Reasoning. You can study these using Youtube or any other platform.

English Syllabus:

Grammar

  • Agreement, time and tense, parallel construction, relative pronouns
  • Determiners, prepositions, modals, adjectives
  • Voice, transformation
  • Question tags, phrasal verbs

Vocabulary

  • Synonyms, antonyms, odd word, one word, jumbled letters, homophones, spelling
  • Contextual meaning
  • Analogy

Reading comprehension

  • Content/ideas
  • Vocabulary
  • Referents
  • Idioms/phrases
  • Reconstruction (rewording)

Composition

  • Rearrangement
  • Paragraph unity
  • Linkers/connectives

Logical Reasoning:

Verbal reasoning

  • Analogy: Analogy means correspondence, in the questions based on analogy, a particular relationship is given and another similar relationship has to be identified from the alternatives provided
  • Classification: Classification means to assort the items of a given group on the basis of certain common quality they possess and then spot the odd option out
  • Series completion: Here series of numbers or letters are given and one is asked to either complete the series or find out the wrong part in the series
  • Logical deduction: Reading passage-Here a brief passage is given and based on the passage the candidate is required to identify the correct or incorrect logical conclusions
  • Chart logic: Here a chart or a table is given that is partially filled in and asks to complete it in accordance with the information given either in the chart/table or in the question

Non-verbal reasoning

  • Pattern perception: Here a certain pattern is given and generally a quarter is left blank, the candidate is required to identify the correct quarter from the given four alternatives
  • Figure formation and analysis: The candidate is required to analyze and form a figure from various given part
  • Paper cutting: It involves the analysis of a pattern that is formed when a folded piece of paper is cut into a definite design
  • Figure matrix: In this more than one set of figures is given in the form of a matrix, all of them following the same rule, the candidate is required to follow the rule and identify the missing figure
  • Rule detection: Here a particular rule is given and it is required to select from the given sets of figures, a set of figures, which obeys the rule and forms the correct series

For 218 marks in BITSAT 2022 what courses I might get. I am open to Msc and any campus

Gyana Srivastava 20th Aug, 2022

As far as the BITS campus is concerned, BITS campus does not really matter because, in the end, you only get a degree from BITS Pilani. But as far as marks are concerned, you might get into the B.Pharm course in Hyderabad or Pilani. The cutoff for Msc courses usually starts from 240s (this was during BITSAT 2020 for the Hyderabad campus). The cutoff also varies depending on the number of aspirants giving the exam and the marks they get. The cutoffs also differ from one campus to campus. Looking at the previous year's patterns, there won't be much difference in the cutoffs(maybe a difference of 10-15 marks). But the cutoffs also decrease by spot round depending on the number of seats left.

My score did not increase after moderation in bitsat 2022. My friends score increased by 8 marks. They also wrote the same shift . How is moderation done?

anushkasrivastava073 20th Aug, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

Your positive score depends not only on the number of questions that you solve correctly but also depends on the number of questions that you have solved incorrectly during the exam. It can happen that, you might have solved some questions incorrectly which resulted in negative marking. Your friend might not have made those silly mistakes and that is why he ended up scoring more than what you have scored.

Marking Scheme In BITSAT: 3 marks will be given for every correct answer. 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect responses and no marks will be given for unattempted questions.

As you can see, the negative marking can affect your total positive score. You should avoid this mistake in future. Only attempt the questions for which you are 100% sure. Random guessing/ Silly mistakes should be avoided at all costs.

Moderation is done after the scores are released. Moderation is done for ranks and not for marks.

TIE BREAKING RULE IN BITSAT:

All candidates who appear in BITSAT 2022 and interested in admission requires to submit Admission application form with 12th marks and preferences to different degree programs offered at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. The authorities will prepare a merit list of such candidates on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in BITSAT 2022. If two or more candidates will obtain the same marks as per the BITSAT result then the authorities will use the following tie-breaking rule.

  • In case of a tie, candidates with higher scores in Mathematics/Biology will be given higher rank.
  • If a tie still persists, candidates with higher scores in Physics will be given higher rank.
  • If a tie still persists, candidates with higher scores in Chemistry will be given higher rank.
  • If a tie still persists, PCB/PCM marks obtained in Class 12th will be considered to resolve the tie.

I hope your query is resolved.

i made a mistake while typing adha rcard number in BITSAT preferences form. Will if affect my admission or is there any help for me ??

Sayan 3rd Sep, 2022

Hello,

Your choice shouldn't be affected because even if you accidentally typed the incorrect Aadhar number, the Aadhar Photo that you must have uploaded can still verify it. The aadhar Photo can be used to cross check it in the end, and the purpose of having several documents is to allow authorities to clearly confirm your identity and the validity of your documents by using a variety of documents.

Thank You
