If you are not from the state board, a residence certificate is required—indeed, I would argue it is a must. Students from the state board have certain advantages because they can provide their 12th grade mark sheets as evidence of residency. However, CBSE board students cannot.

Better made one residential certificate beforehand.

All the best.  The qualifying cut-off person child for the general category is 50 and for SC or St or OBC, it is 40 percentile.
