after class 12th you should definitely give your exam, crash course would be a better option as iy can help you in revision and will help you in exam.
Even without crash course on the basis of self study one can clear this exam .dropping is not an option

The minimum percentage needed is 50 % in 12 th standard or equivalent exam from a recognised Board for Bachelor of Arts (B.A) course. Some colleges gives admissions based on merit and some colleges gives admissions based on Entrance Exam.
