For any entrance exam,you should be aware of the syllabus and within the syllabus you should point out those topics which are important and has been asked frequently.
Study every topic deeply and make sure that you do different varieties of questions regarding that topic so basically practice as
1 year regular preparation for jee mains is enough but only if you will stdy on regular basis and i can bet that if you are really a hard worker then you can score even more than 250 but only thing is practice the subject matters regularly and revise it.
There is nothing like important chapters bro. In mains the questions are from all the chapters and nothing like more weighage or less weighage criterie is there.
To get a good rank and good marks i would suggest you to complete the entire syllabus.

neet is not as tough as it is said , you just have to focus yourself in improving your basic first, then proceed to any advance level.
for basic refer to ncert, consider it as your bible, learn it completely for all the three subjects,
