Generally speaking, the syllabi of the GATE is all off the course in Engineering tenure of 4 years.

Like if you have your BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, then the syllabus is from the core subjects like

2. IC Engines and Compressors

class 11-12 ncert are essentials to crack the exam. You need to be thorough with the entire book. However, if you want to score really well and are aiming at high ranks, then you will have to read extra. You can get study materials from Aakash, Allen, etc. Or

Legal Aptitude(30marks)- just follow previous CLAT papers and Polity by Laxmikant.

English(50 marks) And Logical and Analytical Reasoning(30 marks)-Verbal and Non-verbal Ability by TMH PUB.(Arun Sharma).

General knowledge and current affairs(40marks)- Read NCERT books
