Yes offcourse , you can drop for a year after class 12th.
But remember one thing you must prepare hard, so that you can get some good college by qualifying some of the good exams of India.

Then only a year drop is worthfull

No it may lead you to face many difficulties as btech syllabus whether anybranch is so engaging, you wouldn't get time to study for jeemain, better take a drop and focus on one thing rather than two
