I have completed 12th class with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Computer Science in Tamil Nadu board. It has been 8 years till now. I am interested in taking Botany in correspondence for which PCB is the eligibility. How can I add Biology as extra subject in my 12th or is there any other way?

Ishita 20th Aug, 2024

Hello Aspirant

Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that you can pursue Botany without having studied Biology in your 12th standard.

Biology forms the foundation for Botany. It provides the essential knowledge of living organisms, their structure, functions, and interactions, which are crucial for understanding botany. Most universities and institutions require Biology as a mandatory subject for admission to Botany courses, whether regular or correspondence.

You can either enroll yourself in 11th grade all over again and choose Biology as your main subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).

Some institutions might offer bridging courses or preparatory programs for students without Biology to equip them with the necessary foundational knowledge.

These are the only viable options I can suggest.

ami 12 pass out arts stream thaka ami ki computer since nea porta parbo .. eligibility ki admmison ar

Asmee Biswas 4th Aug, 2024

Hello there,

Yes, you can pursue a degree in Computer Science even if you have passed class 12 in Arts, but there are a few considerations:

1. Eligibility Requirements: Many engineering and computer science programs require a background in Science with Mathematics. However, some institutions offer alternative pathways or foundation courses for students from non-science backgrounds.

2. Alternative Programs:

- B.Sc. in Computer Science:Some universities may allow admission into B.Sc. Computer Science programs with an Arts background, especially if you have studied Mathematics at the 12th-grade level or can take a bridge course.

- Diploma Courses: You might consider enrolling in a diploma program in Computer Science, which might have more flexible entry requirements.

3. Online Courses and Certifications: Consider taking online courses or certifications in Computer Science from platforms like Coursera, edX, or Udacity to build foundational knowledge and improve your eligibility for future programs.

4. Check Specific Institutions: Different colleges and universities have varying eligibility criteria. Contact the admissions office of the institutions you're interested in to understand their requirements and see if they offer pathways for students from non-science backgrounds.

5. Bridge Programs:Some institutions offer bridge or preparatory programs to help students from different backgrounds transition into Computer Science programs.

Exploring these options will help you find a suitable path to pursuing a career in Computer Science.
