Hi ! It seems harder to get a chance in a nit because the rank is too high. Still your son may have a good chance in low graded nits like nit Manipur, nit Meghalaya, nit Sikkim, all under OBC ranking category. Still you may have a check on official

Sorry but even if you belong to SC/ST category you can't get government college with this rank. The rank required to get a government seat is above 400 under state counseling and above 500 under All India Quota.

According to last year cut off the minimum marks required for bds government medical college was 246 marks and 265391 rank for SC candidate and since your marks are lower than it you have less chances of getting government college.
