Dinesh Goyal 29th Aug, 2019

Hii,

Scoring 126 marks in stage 2 exam is very good. You have fair chances to get selected for the scholarship. This year, it is expected that cutoff marks for OBC can range between 115-123. So you have very good chances to win the NTSE scholarship. Rest, you will come to know after the declaration of cutoff marks.

All the Best!!!

I want to get into MS General Surgery in NEET 2020. Kindly suggest best colleges and approx. rank/score for me to get into them.

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 23rd Aug, 2019
Dear Divya, if you are planning on to become a General Surgeon, you should have completed your MBBS first. You havent mentioned if you have completed your MBBS and are enquiring about MS and NEET PG.

Assuming you want to study MBBS and then MS later,  first off to be eligible for NEET, you should have completed your 10+2 and scored an aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It is 50% for General Category, 45% for PWD and 40% for OBC,SC,ST. Now once you appear for NEET, the cut offs will be released. Though cut offs change every year, cut offs are dependant on various factors like no.of candidates appearing for the exam, no.of candidates qualified, top NEET score and difficulty of the exam. In 2019, the cut offs went higher by 15 marks from 2018. It is yet to be known what might be the cut offs for 2020. Now mere securing cut offs cannot get a Medical Seat. In 2019, the cut offs went so high that Candidates with 550 and above score had to be satisfied with a MBBS seat in Private Medical College. Again, against some 60,000+ MBBS seats across India in 2018, the number increased to 90,000+ MBBS seats is 2019 and 5,200 seats being accomodated to EWS reservation. Now talking about Categories, its just not your score but also your Category that plays a role in your name showing up on the merit list. As of now the reservations that are in place are:
OBC: 27%
EWS: 10%
SC: 15%
ST: 7.5%
The remaining reservations like PWD, Sports, Women Category, Ex Servicemen and Defense, Victims of terrorism, etc are available at Horizontal level at the respective State Counsellings. Now we all also have 2 levels of Counselling. Under All India Quota, All the 15% of All India Quota Seats except for Jammu and Kashmir, 100% Seats at Deemed and Central Universities, IP Quota seats in ESIC Colleges, Seats at AFMC are filled by DGHS. The 85% State Quota and Private Colleges are filled by the respective State Authorities. So each college has a different cut off for All India Counselling and State Counselling for different Categories. Now NEET 2020 dates have been released by NTA and they have been mentioned here for you:

Registration Dates: 2nd to 31st December, 2019
Downloading of Admit Cards: 27th March, 2020
Date of Examination: 3rd May, 2020
Date of Announcing Result: 4th June, 2020

Ideally belonging to SC Category, you should score noyhing less than 500 to secure a seat in MBBS.

If you are planning on taking on NEET, this might help you:

Rajashree Khandelia 24th Aug, 2019

Hello Amish Kumar

Congratulations for your rank, but I am sorry to say that your chances of getting a college is very low. Don't lose hope. Sit for the counselling and try your luck as the cutoffs changes every year. Cutiffs depend on the paper difficulty, no of students appearing for the exam, students apearing for the counselling and also the no. of seats available. So just try your luck, sit for the counselling and hope for the best. I hope you get your desired seat and college.

Hope it helps you.
