Dear Hitesh,
The Oberoi Step Selection Procedure or STEP has four stages before the final selection:-
First round: It will the personal interview in which you have to introduce not yourself but a partner which will be on your side in the interview room after you get to know about him or her. They basically check your command over your language.
Second round: You have to face this round all alone with some 3 or 4 interview members. They will ask you about current affairs and hobby and also some extracurricular activity. So, be prepare what you have written in your CV they will ask you questions from them too.
Third round: You have to give an aptitude test which comprises GK and English.
Fourth round: You have to face the interview with the head of OLCD.
Tips:
1. Prepare yourself well as they see your grooming skill and they will not select if you lack in it.
2. Have a strong command over your language.
3. If you just clear the 12th then chances are they will not ask you anything regarding Hospitality. But they do ask the question about current affairs so help yourself and start reading it from today.
4. Chances are they try to evoke your anger by asking some question to see how well you can perform later as this hospitality industry needs someone calm and can be able to handle the situation very calmly.
5. Do go through your CV religiously and take one or two print out with you at the interview.
6. Know everything about The Oberoi and also what is happening in the hospitality industry in India and abroad I mean to say this current happening.
7. Keep yourself calm and confident because your attitude will make the difference if you don't know the answer.
8. You will get through this interview. I put this in the tips intentionally.
Good luck and Best wishes for the interview.
Ajit,
Jossa counselling is totally dependent on your preference list. When counselling will start you have to fill your choices according to your preference list. You may/may not be allotted a seat in first round. Suppose you are allotted a seat in first round. Then you have to go to reporting centre and choose the option float.
In the second round you will be allotted the same seat or the seat which is given priority in your choice filling list and which is above the current seat.
For eg you have 7 choices named as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.
In first round you get the seat no. 4 .
Now in second round you will either get seat no. 4 or seat which is above 4(that is 1,2,3).
This process will further continue in next round.
Remember to choose the float option if you want to participate for next round.
And one thing more, choice below 4( that is 5,6,7) will become useless ,null and void.
As you have given case of NIT CALICUT if you get something else in round 4/5/6/7 you won't be able to get back NIT CALICUT.
If you still have any queries you can ask in comment section.
BTW Dont worry for counseling jossa will conduct two mock counseling round to clear everything.
ITM has good faculty for management courses. Also, many reknown companies come here during placement.
