can we become Ca or do Accountancy with applied mathematics

Shaivi Kant 4th Aug, 2020

Hello,

CA training involves three main stages-

  1. CPT (Common Proficiency Test)
  2. IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence Course)
  3. CA Final Examination

Mathematics subject and its concepts will come handy while facing CPT and CA Final. Topics like integration, derivatives, Interest (Simple & Compound) etc are involved in CPT stage. Similarly, in the CA Final stage, Financial Management too has lot to do with mathematics subject.Technically, students from any stream (after 10+2) are eligible to pursue CA training.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :

  • According to the rules set by ICAI, students who have passed 10+2 board examination (any stream) or any Graduation course (from a recognized University) are eligible to undergo CA training. There is no mention of mathematics as a compulsory subject.
  • This means that students who haven’t had mathematics subject are also eligible to pursue CA training.
  • Sure, mathematics doesn’t play a crucial role in eligibility criteria. But the subject sure is involved in the Proficiency Test and Final Level. To get a better idea about the involvement of mathematics subject, let us check out various stages involved in CA training.

Hope this is helpful

will I get admission in college when I fail in one subject over 6 subject. failed subject is accountancy and additional subject is music?

Kirti 1st Aug, 2020

It depends on the college's criterion. Some college wants you to just pass overall with a specific percentage. While there are some Colleges/entrance exams where the criteria is that you should have passed specific subjects with certain marks. So you should check with the college or the exams which you want you take.

St Xaviers take 60% from entrance for the admission of BMM and 40% from CBSE boards. I scored 74% in Xaviers entrance and 91.6 in CBSE Boards and my top 5 subjects (excluding Accountancy) is 94% do I have the chance of getting an admission there and by what percentage? please help

Soumya Kaushik 28th Jul, 2020

Hello!

As you said, for BMM admissions, you need a cutoff of 40% in your CBSE results. But realistically, the competitive cutoff is around 80%. Even after this, your percentage is very good, and I would say you have a very good chance of getting into the college.

Good luck with your admissions!!

Hope this helped you!

Sharon Rose Student Expert 3rd Sep, 2020

Hello,

Based on previous cut off you may have chances of getting seat in the following colleges under OBC category in B.Com

  • PGDAV college (Evening)
  • Bhagini Nivedtha College
  • Bharathi College
  • DR. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College
  • Ramanujan College

You do not have chances of getting seat in south campus colleges such as Gargi college, Lady Shri ram college, the cut off is higher. You have chances of getting seat in above listed colleges. However, cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on number of candidates applied, number of seats available etc.

Ive scored 94% including Physical Education and excluding Accountancy and 91.6 otherwise, what are the best colleges for BJMC I should apply for and my chance of getting in? Thankyou very much.

ojaswiyolo Student Expert 18th Jul, 2020

Hey

First of all, congratulations on scoring such good marks!

The best colleges for BJMC that you should apply in are Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (conduct their own entrance exam), Kalindi College, DCAC, Maharaja Agarsen, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Chandigarh University(CU), Rabindranath Tagore University etc. If you want you can also go to private institutes like LPU , Amity and Sharda.

As for your chances of getting in- your score is good but since tis year both cbse and isc have given higher than usual marks I will not be possible to say what the cutoffs of these institutes will be. I will suggest you to apply in all of them and hope for the best.

Hii Mridul,

Your percentage of best four is 94.75.

If you are pursuing the course in the same field which was in your class 12th, then there will be no deduction and if you are choosing the different course from your stream then there will be some deduction.

For getting an idea where can you get admission in college, here is the college predictor in the given link

I failed in Accountancy in Class 12th but overall i was passed does it effect me to get any job govt or private??

Mohit Gupta 15th Jul, 2020

Hi Nadeem Ahmed

Don't worry about accountancy, try hard again this year and reappear in it next year.

Once you passed this subject, it won't effect you in getting any job, either government or private sector.

You can also do further studies after clearing.

Try hard this year and hopefully you will definitely clear it.

All the best for your bright future.
