Does aeronautical engineering has no scope in india??

Mamta Singh 27th Feb, 2019

Hi Amulya,

Aerospace engineering is broadly divided into two types of engineering- aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering.

An Aeronautical Engineer is crucial in the research, design, development and performance testing of commercial and military airplanes, weapon systems.

Aeronautical engineers improve flight safety & fuel efficiency, develop control systems, analyze new materials and use advanced technologies to meet customer needs and reduce the environmental impact of air commute.

Coming to your question, the scope of aeronautical engineering in India. This is a difficult question to answer in every aspect, of course, you get a lot of opportunities in the government sector but it isn’t easy. I guess nothing is easy and enough but that shouldn’t stop you from taking up this course or profession if you are passionate enough about it and things involved interests you.

OPPORTUNITIES YOU'LL GET AFTER AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING

Maintenance of Aircraft - Engineers test new aerodynamic and aviation systems, and maintain them.

Aircraft Designer - Engineers specializing in this field deal with designing, constructing, and testing aircraft, missiles, and spacecrafts. They may conduct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aircraft design and manufacture.

Aviation Engineer- Engineers in this field deal with the airport design, aircraft navigation technologies, and aerodrome planning.

Defence - Aeronautical Engineers in this field deal with creation, maintenance and deployment of defence aircrafts such as fighter jets, choppers, bombers, etc. Also the job requires to be able to handle such aircraft at necessary times.

And if you have a real passion for the field, you can work in the government sector with ISRO, DRDO, HAL, etc. And then we can look at private companies such as L & T, Godrej & Boyce aerospace, Boeing, Airbus, Mahindra, etc. You can also go for the INDIAN NAVY and INDIAN AIRFORCE.

Now, if I talk about the best Indian Institutions to study aeronautical engineering. Some of them are mentioned below:

1)Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram

2)Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

3)Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

4)Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering, Dehradun

5)Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai

6)Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh

7)Lovely professional university, Punjab

8)Park College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore

9)School of Aviation Science and Technology, Delhi

10) MIT Manipal University, Manipal

In case you tend to lose interest from the aeronautical branch then you must have some backup right. So I'll help you out in that by introducing to more options you can go for.

If your preference is based on highest paying sectors, you can opt for

a) Petroleum Engineering

b)Nuclear Engineering

c) Chemical Engineering

d) Material Engineering and there are many more.

If you want to choose from core branches, you can go for

a) Electrical Engineering

b)Electronics and Communication Engineering

c) Mechanical Engineering

d) Civil Engineering.

Feel free to ask any query or doubt regarding the above shared information in the comment section below.

Thank You.

Goodluck.
