About Admissions

Central Agricultural University (CAU) offers courses to aspirants at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level. Programmes offered at CAU are in Science stream. The University comprises of seven colleges which include a College of Postgraduate studies.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for UG Courses

General category students meet Central Agricultural Universitys eligibility criteria to secure admission in UG courses if they have cleared their Class 12 with at least 50% aggregate marks in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics and Agriculture. For SC/ST/PH/In service category students the minimum aggregate percentage to be eligible for admission is 40%.

Age Limit:Aspirants should be 17 years of age to meet CAU eligibility criteria.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for PG Courses

Candidates can secure admission in PG level courses if they possess a bachelors degree in science stream from a recognised college/university.

Admission Process for UG Courses

Aspirants are offered admission in UG programmes through nomination by respective states of North East Region as well as ICAR/VCI, on the basis of entrance test held by them.

Elaborating the same the official website informs: Based on the population of each constituent state, quota has been fixed for undergraduate programmes for various states and the admission is given to the candidates sponsored by the respective states based on thecommon entrance testconducted by them. In addition to states quota, 15% seats for undergraduate programmes are filled up by the ICAR/VCI, based onAllIndia Entrance Examination.

Admission Process for PG Courses

The admission process for postgraduate courses is such that aspirants are shortlisted for admission basis merit in qualifying degree exam as well as nomination by ICAR.

The official website informs: Candidates with Bachelors degree in concerned/related subjects from a recognised university with OGPA of 6.00 out of 10.00 or equivalent percentage of marks are eligible for admission to the Masters Degree programmes. SC/ST candidates with OGPA of 5.50 in the Bachelors degree shall be eligible for the admission.

In PG programmes offered at Central Agricultural University (CAU), around 75% seats are filled basis their merit in the qualifying examination and the remaining 25% seats are reserved for ICAR and these seats are filled basis an aspirants performance in AllIndia Entrance Test.

For admission in some PG courses offered at Central Agricultural University the selection process is as mentioned below:

Application Process

Candidates need to fill their application form for Central Agricultural University admissions as per the format specified by the university. Along with the application form, candidates need to submit attested copies of certificate, mark sheets, age proof certificate, domicile certificate, OBC/Caste/Tribe certificates (if required) as well as application fee.

The application fee needs to be paid in form of IPO or Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Comptroller, Central Agricultural University, Imphal and should be payable at SBI (Main Branch), Imphal.

Entrance exam name for agricultural and food engineering

Hey, 
Indian Council of Agricultural Research organizes AIEEEA examination which is a national level exam organized for providing admission to UG and PG agricultural programmes. 
The applications will be available via online and offline mode in the month of April 2018. The examination will be held in May 2018.
 
For entering into Food Engineering which is a 4-year discipline, one has to appear for JEE Mains and other State Level Engineering Exam.
