How to be an archaeologist What subject to choose in class 11

Aishwarya 30th Apr, 2018

Dear student

Archaeology is the science of studying human cultures through the recovery, analysis and documentation of material remains and environmental data, like architecture, arte facts, features, landscapes.
It is preferable for candidates to have a background of ancient history and culture. The basic eligibility criteria for a Bachelor course in History/ Archaeology (i.e B.A level) of three-year duration, is 10+2 or equivalent.
Like other subjects, archaeology also has a large number of sub-disciplines. One can have a specialization in a particular field after completing the basics of an archaeology course. Some of these specialization areas are characterized by a specific type of material (like archaeobotany, lithic analysis, music), chronological or geographical focus (like Medieval archaeology, Near Eastern archaeology), other thematic areas (like maritime archaeology, battlefield archaeology, landscape archaeology) or a specific archaeological culture or civilization (like Indology, Egyptology).

All the best !!!
