Well its difficult to say specific amount because its all depends from student and there performance during interview and their academic performance. Apart from this diffrent companies have there own criteria and offering. Well mostly average package goes between 5-6 lakh per annum. This amount may differ.

Well 95% of Automotive industry in India has only assembly/production facility for which they rarely recruit Automobile Engineers. They mostly hire Mechanical knowledge with basic knowledge. Research and Development labs in India are quite less, to be honest NIL.
First TATA and Mahindra used to have their R&D labs spread
After btech if you want to pursue in govt jobs than write gate and try for psus and even you can apply in some top private firms via their entrance exam for more queries pls let me know
