GATE is required to get admission in Mtech courses or job in PsU's. You can give GATE exam once you recover. But it shall be required.

You have less chances in government colleges based on your JEE marks you can try in private colleges. You can try in your state level exam to get admission in government colleges. You belong from which state? MP BE is to get admission in engineering colleges in MP state.

Yes Mechanical can also be done in B.Tech,
