i passed intermediate pcm in 2007 with 91% from andhra pradesh. by taking only biology as additional subject from nios can i eligible to write neet 2021?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 26th May, 2020
Hi

Students with Biology as an additional subject are eligible for NEET examination , also NIOS is a recognised open board.

So yes after passing Biology as an additional subject from NIOS you will be eligible for Neet examination provided that after passing Biology from NIOS your percentage  must be at least 50% in aggregate of Physics chemistry and Biology if you are from general category or at least 40% aggregate in PCB if you belong to OBC ,SC or St category.

Hello....i belongs to sc caste...I got marks 36 in chem theory and 36 in chem practical...33 in phy theory and 31 in phy practical.... 54 in biology theory and 36 in practical...so, am I eligible for neet ??

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 26th May, 2020

Vibhasha, to be eligible for NEET, you should have completed your 12th, passed in all subjects and secured a minimum aggregate of 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology as you belong to SC Category. You have scored 41% just in your theory and so you are eligible for NEET.

Hi, I did 12th with PCM subject and then gave NIOS improvement exam for PCB and English due to misinformation instead of just giving Biology alone.I did graduation in Biochemistry by clubbing them. Can I use these marksheet to give NEET exam in 2021?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 26th May, 2020

Pranav, we tried accessing the link that you attached. But we are not able to open the link. Neverthless, if you have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in your NIOS exam, you are eligible for appearing for NEET. It is 50% for General Category, 45% for PWD and 40% for OBC,SC,ST. Now you appear for NEET based on your 12th eligibility and not Graduation. So if you fulfil the minimum aggregate criteria, you are eligible for NEET. If you still have questions, please help us with your individual marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and your Category too.

Can I be a neurophysiologist after Bsc in biology?Or is it necessary to take Bsc in psychology?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 26th May, 2020

Physiology is a branch of Biology that deals with the mechanical, physical, biochemical functions of the human body. Now Neurophysiology is  includiing the nervous system and its reactions to these functions. To study to become a NeuroPhysiologisy, you should complete your Masters in Physiology and complete M.Phil in NeuroBiology. Now to study M.Sc in Physiology, you should have studied Physiology as a subject in your graduation. But B.Sc Biology will mot have Physiology as a subject in its curriculum and so you might find it difficult for admission in M.Sc Physiology. Again Psychology also doesn't have Physiology as a subject in its curriculum and so with B.Sc Psychology, you cannot pursue M.Sc Physiology.

do we need biology to be the stream to get biotechnology in IITs or computer science is far enough in 11th and 12th ???

Soumili Majumdar 25th May, 2020
Hello there,
For any B.Tech course, physics, chemistry and mathematics (PCM) are the compulsory subjects. The eligibility criteria doesn't mention about biology or computer science as compulsory subject, so you can choose any of them.

Now, if you choose biology, you can appear for medical entrance exams as well. Engineering, architecture, medical, and pharmacy - you can choose any path. For medical, PCB is compulsory, and for engineering PCM is compulsory.

While, if you choose computer science, you can apply for only engineering and architecture. You can give all entrance tests related to engineering and architecture, only.

And for Biotechnology, you don't need computer science background, but if you have knowledge in biology, there won't be much problem in understanding during your course, because you know the basics.

But, in 11th and 12th standard, computer science is easier to study than biology.

Now it's totally upto you what to choose. Whichever subject you choose, choose wisely. If your only aim is to get Biotech in IIT, then you need to get below 20k rank in JEE Main and Advanced.

Hope this answer helps you.
Good luck!!

if we are not interested in biology due to craming of names species and have interest in evolution of human and others things in anthropology do we opt it?does it include only understanding or cramming also like in biology?do I opt or not I dont want to cram things like on biology? I am non med st.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 25th May, 2020

hi,

see if you opt for bsc in zoology/botany/microbiology or any other courses related with biology you need to remember the scientific names, let it be animals or virus or bacterias any thing, scientific names is one of the most important things and it includes in most of the topics related with biology. so you need to think deeply whether you should opt for bachelors in biology related field.
