Biomedical Engineer
Dear Vraj, any company when it mentions your salary talks about it Annually. So when they quote a package for any designation, it is always Gross Salary for a year. It is callrd Cost to the Company in other words CTC. So when they say, CTC it means that the company is willing to spend this certain amount on you annually. However that is not what you take home. For example, if the CTC is 6 lakhs per annum, you dont take home 50,000Rs every month. That is because 6 lakhs is your gross salary and not Net salary. Your gross salarybis like a raw budget alloted for you before any taxes, bonus, PF, other components, etc. So when they say CTC, it is your Annual salary and also never forget to ask what your Net salary or take home would be.

Hey Alphin Sojy,
Biomedical Engineering is still in the development stage in India and, scope is very limited for this field. the main reasons why progress is slow is due to the lack of integration between research institutions, hospitals and universities in India. In developed countries such as USA, UK and Singapore, excellent integration exists between universities and hospitals, thereby creating the perfect environment for R&D in Biomedical Engineering. In India, most of the jobs related to Biomedical Engineering are in non-tech areas such as service, maintenance, customer support, sales and management. Students interested in pursuing a career in research and core development work in Biomedical Engineering must look for jobs in universities, labs and research centers in India or pursue MS and PhD studies in USA, UK and other nations.
Biomedical Engineering program comprises study about tissue engineering, molecular or systems level biology/ physiology and mathematics. In order to pursure the programme Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Biotechnology in biomedical engineering you should have passed passed the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subjects such as biology, maths, and chemistry.
