In these colleges or state level entrance like wbjee or any private college examination ,the dynamics changes every year drastically.

It depends upon certain factors like number of candidates appearing in that examination, number of vacant seats in the college, previous years cut off, difficulty level of the paper.

So accordingly it would change but on a general basis you have good chances to get in category 2 or 3 at a worst case scenario. As per previous years you can get in category 1.

The previous years records show that the candidates sevuring rank upto 20,000 comes under the category-1 and 20k onwards category 2 starts and so on. So, with the rank you mentioned, there are chances that you might get category 2 or 3 but for category 1 chances are less. Also, according to the previous years cutoff trends you might get biomedical engineering, civil engineering and Production and Industrial Engg at VIT Vellore and you can always apply for other campuses of VIT. See you are compairing to completely uncorrelated fields. Both the courses have there own advantages and disadvantages. Now I think you have a typo it must be a BTech Biomedical Engineering.

Now BTech Biomedical is an Engineering course or BSc Biomedical is a general science course which focuses mainly on the applications of sciences in medical fields. This course consist of desgning instruments, maintenance of instruments and application. So this field isn't a direct medical or paramedical. This course enables you to work on the instrumental medical technologies which will help the physicians to treat patients.

Now BSc Nursing is a on field course i.e., its a direct interraction with a patient and need to work in hospital environmnet.

Now both the professions have good salary options. So you should choose based on your interest and not for the money because both of them are equally advantageous and with equal opportunities.

But you might get category2 or category 3 under which you might get Biomedical Engineering easily at VIT Vellore. The cut-off trends keeps changing every year and it depends on the number of students attempting the exam, difficulty level, number of available seats, etc. With a rank near to 38 ,000, you have chances of getting BioMedical Engineering seat in Vellore campus as the cut-off for the same was 45,000 in the year 2016 and 13,000 in the year 2015.
