Total number of applicants for IIT JAM are about 84000 in 2019 and about 60000 in 2020. The number of students applying for Biotechnology Seats is somewhat lesser than the total number as there are only 91 seats available under Biotechnology, all over India. There is no official number

yes your are eligible to take biotechnology for your btech degree in any of the colleges in india(iit, other government colleges or private collegs). The only requirement is you must have PCM in your 11th and 12th. It is good that your shcool has provided biotechnology as optional subject.

The minimum eligibility to pursue btech in biotechnology is 55% in 10+2 exams with physics, chemistry and maths background, from a recognized university.
