As per quality both biotechnology and pharmacy are good. In fact there are several colleges that offer prestigious degree on these two course. But in term of  employability pharmacy is better than biotechnology. There is huge pharmacy industry. And By doing B.Pharm you can get an enough job,

I think btech in biotechnology is a good choice although placements are not like computer science but if you work hard you can take a good placement also. Good college will provide better labs , infrastructure and placement . As you are more concerned on Mtech you should study

The qualifying marks for applying for B.Sc. Biotech are a minimum score of 50% in 10th and 12th board exams and an aggregate of 60% in Biology, Physics and Chemistry in 12th board exams. Some colleges also conduct their own  entrance tests.

As PCB students deal with Physics, Chemistry, Biology. They can't opt to study Biotechnology in IIT or NIT because JEE is only meant for mathematic background students with MPC in their intermediate studies.
