Which is better, bits pilani cse or iit Madras engineering physics?

Aniket Prasad 15th Jun, 2019

Hello Rishabh,

The college Vs branch is one of the most common question in an aspirants mind. It clearly depends on which branch you are more interested in. As IIT M as well as BITS Pilani both are two of the best colleges in India. While Engineering Physics is more of a research oriented branch, CSE is job oriented. The purpose of your engineering and your interest are the only thing which should be deciding your college now. With engineering physics you would be getting deep knowledge of physics as well as accumen for engineering practices. You might be writing scientific papers in physics. In CSE, you will be getting a lot of opportunities in the booming software sector of India and might learn about machine learning and AI better than other branches.

Still, if you are doing engineering for jobs, you should do BITS Pilani CSE as it's avg package is 22L which is a great package to start with.

Surathkal Metallurgy or bits Hyderabad chemical or civil engineering?

Aniket Prasad 15th Jun, 2019
Hello,
Both NIT surathakal and BITS Hyderabad are two of the top colleges for engineering in India. While NIT surathakal is very old and has a strong alumni network, BITS Hyderabad enjoys an advantageous location in Hyderabad one of the IT hubs of India. Purely based on these branches, scopewise Chemical or civil is more advantageous than Metallurgy due to broader applications. The zero attendance policy of BITS and proximity to IT hub will play an impactful role if you are considering a career in software industry. You can rest assured for placements in both the colleges. In my opinion, if money is not an issue you should go for BITS Hyderabad.
Thanks

I have got 156 score in bits exam and 76% in pcm in 12th and 80%in jee mains will i get seat in bits

abhinav singh 15th Jun, 2019

Hi Malagaddam,

If you are a general student, then it is very difficult for you to get a seat in BITS Pilani as the cutoff for various courses lie between 250-350 marks in BITSAT. Your class 12th results have no role to play in BITS Admission, unless you are a state topper. If you are a state topper, you can get admission into any course provided by BITS Pilani. With your BITSAT score, you have no shot at any of the BITS campuses. Try again next time. Best of Luck.

What to do next? Drop or wait for reap result

rohitsharma11607088_8414200 Student Expert 15th Jun, 2019

Dear Khushi, I glad to guide you because as per your point of interest and your marks which you get in your curriculum is impressive. Dear, there is no need to drop one year for shake of cracking IIT, if you are that much clear about your dream that is becoming IAS then why you want to waste your one year you can do simple B.Tech side by side you just prepared for IAS or you can do graduation from Arts background if you want that will help you in your preparation.

All the best

I m getting bits pilani (chemical)this year. should i take drop for iit ??should i go to kota for prep ?oR just grab bits chemical?

Adarsh Kumar Singh 15th Jun, 2019

BItS pilani is a reputed college. difference between IIT and BITS is only name. both are tier 1 college. so if you have interest in chemistry and want to do chemical engineering then go for it. if not then try to get your prefered branch in other colleges. your last option should be  to take a drop.

Blah blah 13th Jun, 2019

Siddhartha,

Mode of admission to BITS is

One needs to take the BITSAT examination and fulfill the BITS Admissions eligibility criteria.

Admissions are done on the basis of score in BITSAT through BITS Counselling.

So as you can see you can't get admission if you don't have a good bitsat score.

But topper of every board get direct entry to BITS.

You can get various colleges based on your jee mains score . Check it on career360 college predictor link given below

When I pay the fees that is 2 lakh at the time of counselling at vit. . And when I get Admission at bits. Will it be refundable

Nishant Rathore 13th Jun, 2019

Hello Garage,

As per the rules of VIT they will refund all money except 10k ( counseling fee ) and 1k ( hostel fee ) if you withdraw before 1st july.

If you withdraw after the commencement of program , then they will deduct 11k + 55k extra.
If you withdraw after 1 month , then 11k + 75k extra.

If you withdraw after 2 months , then they won't refund you any money.

What are highest grade colleges is bits one of them?

Nishant Rathore 13th Jun, 2019

Hello Bhaskar,

BITS is definitely one of the best colleges in our country. However it is not a government college, it is the best private college in our country perhaps for engineering. The placements of the top departments are comparable to IITs as well.

Hope that helps. All the best.
