To score well in ipe / 12th cbseboard. NCERT books are the best books as cbse board follows NCERT . I have complered  my 12th from CBSE board and I had followed NCERT books and  got 90.2 % . More than books

It depends on the Board whether it is CBSE,ICSE or state board or if its autonomous.

Most of the junior colleges in Maharashtra follow state board unless and until specified otherwise.

I most probably think the college you got into is state board as its most common even
