No you cannot write mains subjects papers in Hindi and optional paper in English. There is no such provision in Bihar Public Service commission as well as in Union Public Service commission that a choice for Hindi medium to write your mains exam then he will be eligible for only write in Hindi for the optional paper. No change of medium will be allowed after the form is filled up for BPSC Bihar Public Service commission.
You can choose Urdu language as the medium of mains exam. Choose only if you have good command over Urdu. There is no problem in opting Urdu as a language as you must know Urdu is recognized as the second language of Bihar state. Language is never a barrier in any competitive examination its the knowledge and the representation matters a lot.
