Igot 74 percentile in jee main and 85 percentage in cbse board exam. Whether I can get chance

Yalavarthi Kishita 8th Aug, 2021

Hello aspirant,

Hope you are doing fine.

Now, take a look at the analysis below: The general category cut-off for JEE Main 2020 has dipped to 70.24 from 89 which is a significant 18.76-marks decrease. As for the OBC/SC/ST categories, the decrease in cut-off marks for the same year has been 1.12, 3.83, and 4.94 marks respectively.

NCERT books explain all the topics in a more detailed way so that the students understand and perform well in the exam. JEE Main toppers and experts also recommend NCERT for JEE Main preparation. According to experts, studying NCERT is enough to qualify JEE Main.

The tentative qualifying marks for GEN category students is 89.75 for GEN (EWS category) is 78.21, for OBC-NCL is 74.31, for SC is 54, 44 for ST & 0.11371730 for PWD candidates.

In some states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, the B.Tech admission process is on the basis of JEE Main score, and chances of getting admission are high for a percentile range of 60 to 70. Candidates will need to participate in the state-level counselling process to secure admission.

Hope this is useful for you.

Thank you

Aditya kumar singh 7th Sep, 2021
Hi,
It is very difficult to predict because the cutoffs of colleges changes every year and also this year the cutoff will tend to be higher than previous years as majority of students have achieved good percentage in class 12th. But your percentage is also great so do apply for the counselling and hope for the best .
Hope it helps..

sir, I have scored 75.6 percentile in cbse board exam and my cutoff is 137 out of 200 category (obc). am I eligible to take engineering? if I am which college is best for me in and around Chennai. and I prefer to choose other than chemical, eee, civil.

Sharon Rose Student Expert 30th Jul, 2021

Hello,

Admission to Engineering in Tamil Nadu is based on merit in class 12th and the admission is done through TNEA counselling. The eligibility criteria for TNEA is that a candidate must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from a recognized board. Candidates belonging to general category must score minimum 45% aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry taken together and for candidates belonging to reserved category must have scored minimum 40% aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry taken together. You haven't mentioned the percentage of marks scored in PCM. If you have scored minimum 40% aggregate marks in PCM then you are eligible to get admission.

Based on the previous year cut off you have chances of getting seat in the following institutes

  • Velammal Engineering College (Autonomous), Ambattur-Redhills Road, Chennai: Mechanical-83
  • Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr. Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College (Autonomous), Avadi-Alamathi Road, Chennai: IT- 121
  • St. Josephs Institute of Technology, Jeppiaar Nagar, Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), Chennai : ECE- 98.5
  • S A Engineering College (Autonomous), Thiruverkadu, Chennai: IT- 112

Cut off is subjected to change every year depending on total number of candidates applied, total number of seats available, highest score etc.

i have 80 percent mark in cbse board exam, what should be my score in keam to get a rank below 3000?

Aman Mishra 21st Jun, 2021

Hello,

As you have secured a good marks in your CBSE board exams so it will also play a important role in securing a better rank as the ranks are declared in the basis of 50:50 ratio counting both scores ie, boards plus entrance. Now talking about the score which will make your chance higher in getting a good rank is atleast above 400 and in this score you can also get some of the best colleges for pursuing your higher studies.

Thank you..

If I get 72% in JEE mains and 85% or more in CBSE board exam and Im from Madhya pradesh as well ( that means home state ) ... Will I get admission in SGSITS INDORE .... and please tell me which branch would I get !! . . or which college will i get ..!

Atul Singh 8th Jul, 2021

Dear Ayush,

If you are going to take through JEE main marks the 12th marks will not affect your admission either it is high or low, you just need 75% or above to be eligible. According to your percentile your rank should be around 2,75,000, you can also check your rank by this link.

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

The closing rank for CSE in SGSIT is 20K ( acc. to previous year data ) for the general rank so here I don't think you will get CSE, and for other branches you need to come under the rank of 100K to get any seat in this college. I would suggest to try another 2 attempt to increase your score or take any other government/private college in MP. You can also refer to this link to find the best college for yourself.

Best of Luck!!!
