12th me physics chemistry and biology liya tha per cuet me physics ke jagah physics education biology and chemistry lene par kya du me admission milega ?

Shubham Jha 23rd Jun, 2025

Dear student,

If you want to take admission to science courses at Delhi University like B.Sc. (Hons.) in Zoology, Botany, or Food Technology , your CUET subject choices matter a lot.

DU requires you to take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in CUET for most life science courses. If you choose Physical Education instead of Physics in CUET—even if you studied Physics in Class 12—you won’t be eligible for courses that require Physics as a CUET subject.

Delhi University looks strictly at the subjects you appeared for in CUET , not just what you studied in school.

So, yes— choosing Physical Education instead of Physics in CUET will make you ineligible for certain B.Sc. science courses at DU.

If I do Honours in Chemistry and leave out Physics and Math, then how many subjects will I have and what will they be?

Afreen 27th Jul, 2025

If you pursue a Chemistry Honours degree, leaving out Physics and Math, you will primarily study Chemistry as your core subject, along with General Electives (GEs) and Ability Enhancement Courses (AECs). You'll also likely have Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs).

Chemistry, encompassing various aspects like organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.

General electives are subjects from other fields, possibly including Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, or Computer Applications.

Ability Enhancement Courses (AECs) are compulsory subjects like English or a regional language, and an Environmental Studies course.

Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) are practical or job-oriented courses, which could be chemistry-related.

The exact number and specific subjects will depend on your college or university's curriculum.

If I do Honours in Chemistry and leave out Physics and Math, then how many subjects will I have and what will they be?

gopi 18th Jun, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

If you are going to take an Honours degree in Chemistry and do not enroll in Physics and Mathematics, your subject structure often will consist of the following.:

  1. Core Subject - Chemistry (Honours Major)
  2. Generic Electives (GE) - Usually two subjects from others fields (other than Physics and Mathematics in your case), such as Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, and/or Computer Applications etc.
  3. Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) - Compulsory subjects that are either English or a regional language and Environmental Studies course.
  4. Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) - Practical or job-oriented courses that may be chemistry related.

So overall you would be completing approximately 4 to 5 kinds of subjects; however, Chemistry will be the bulk of courses you undertake. Depending on your university or college, there will be various subjects that you will study.

I am Pursuing my B.Tech 4th year in VIT PUNE, can i take admission in M.tech in pharmaceutical Chemistry and science????

gopi 17th Jun, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

Yes, you can opt for M.Tech in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Science after B.Tech provided your B.Tech was in one of the appropriate specializations. Most of the institutes don't clarify the BTech specialization, but look for a candidate coming from Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Technology etc. if your BTech branch is within these, then you should have a fair eligibility too. Also, you may need valid GATE scores in the appropriate subject for some universities.

Can someone suggest me if this would be a good choice for UP candidate who has got 19k rank in NEET UG

preeti kataria 5th Jul, 2025

If you are a UP candidate with a NEET 2024 rank of around 19,000, it is a strong position to secure a government MBBS seat under the 85% state quota. Many government medical college in Uttar Pradesh have closing ranks between 20,000 to 27,000 so your chance in state counselling are good. However, getting a seat under  15% All India Quota might be a bit difficult, as cutoffs there are usually lower. Still, it’s important to apply for both AIQ and state counselling. Using a college predictor tool can help you shortlist the best options. Overall this is a decent rank that gives you a fair opportunity for MBBS admission.

I got 52% HSC out of that PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) 41% but it will be 47% if add electronics instead of chemistry. And I got 93 percentile in MHT CET PCM. Am I eligible for Engineering? And shall I get good college base on MHT CET result? Please advice.

Ayush Madanpotra 19th Jun, 2025

Yes, you are eligible for engineering admission in Maharashtra. Here's how:

You got 52% overall in HSC, which meets the minimum requirement (45% for general and 40% for reserved categories).

Even though your PCM is 41%, in Maharashtra CET admissions, Electronics is often considered as an optional subject in place of Chemistry, especially if the course allows it. That gives you 47% in PCM with Electronics, which many colleges will accept.

Your 93 percentile in MHT CET (PCM group) is a strong score. With this percentile, you have a good chance of getting into decent engineering colleges in Maharashtra. You may get branches like IT, CSE, or E&TC in private colleges and possibly in a few government-aided ones too.

Colleges you may target include:
VIT Pune
PCCOE Pune
Sinhgad Institutes
Thakur College of Engineering, Mumbai
Ramrao Adik Institute, Navi Mumbai
KJ Somaiya (for some branches depending on cutoffs)

Final admission will depend on the CAP (Centralized Admission Process) rounds, your category (if any), and preferences filled.

I passed in pcm in 12 but if I add chemistry I cant reach top 20 percentile criteria but if we add bio in place of chemistry I am reach top 20 percentile criteria.then can I eligible for nit system.

shivani 20th Jun, 2025
  • You passed Physics + Chemistry + Math (PCM) but your chemistry marks are low.

  • You are saying that if Biology is considered instead of Chemistry , you fall under the top 20 percentile of your board.

  • Biology can be considered as the third subject (instead of Chemistry) only if it was a part of your official 12th board subject combination or mentioned in your marksheet.

  • If your official 12th marksheet includes Physics, Mathematics, and Biology as subjects , and your percentile is in the top 20% of your board based on Physics + Math + Biology , then yes, you are eligible for admission to NITs through JEE Main.
However, if Biology was not part of your original subject combination (i.e., you didn’t actually study or take Biology in your board exams), then you cannot replace Chemistry with Biology just for percentile calculation.

With an IIT JAM 2025 Chemistry rank of 787 (General category) , you have a low-to-moderate chance of getting into older IITs , but a decent chance for newer IITs and other institutes like IISERs or NITs offering MSc Chemistry.

You have a chance at :

  • IIT Bhubaneswar

  • IIT Gandhinagar

  • IIT Jodhpur

  • IIT Mandi / Ropar / Palakkad / Tirupati

  • IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

You are unlikely to get :

  • IIT Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, or Madras (in 1st rounds)

Participate in all rounds of CCMN counselling (IIT JAM admission rounds).

Consider IISER Bhopal / Pune / Kolkata for integrated MSc/PhD options.
