I am in cambridge board and doing A level can I appear for IIT .. how todeal wtih 5 subject criteria as I had taken english physics chemistry and maths

Samriddha Pal 29th May, 2025

Hello,

The minimum Subject Requirement (as per NTA/JEE Advanced), you must have passed your Class 12 (or equivalent) examination with at least five subjects, including:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • One language (usually English)
  • Any one additional subject (e.g., Computer Science, Biology, Economics)

But you have only 4 subjects so, you will need to take one more A-level or AS-level subject to meet the 5-subject criterion.

Hope this helps. All the best!

is PhD from TIFR hyderabad in chemistry better than IISc, IISERs?

Afreen 1st Jul, 2025

It's difficult to definitively say if a PhD from TIFR Hyderabad is "better" than one from IISc or IISERs for chemistry, as it depends heavily on individual preferences and priorities. All three are excellent institutions for chemistry research, each with its own strengths. TIFR Hyderabad is known for its research-driven environment and access to resources. IISc is a top-tier institute with a strong global reputation and a broad range of research opportunities. IISERs are newer but rapidly growing, with a focus on interdisciplinary research and a supportive academic culture.

Here's a more detailed comparison:

TIFR Hyderabad:

Strengths:

Research-focused, well-equipped labs, and a strong emphasis on advanced research and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Potential drawbacks:

May not offer the same level of diversity in research areas or faculty expertise as IISc.

IISc:

Strengths: Top-ranked, strong faculty, excellent research facilities, and a wide range of research areas and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Potential drawbacks: Might be more competitive and have a larger student body.

IISERs:

Strengths:

Research-oriented, growing rapidly, and offer a supportive academic culture, especially for interdisciplinary research.

Potential drawbacks:

May not have the same established reputation or resources as TIFR or IISc, but they are catching up quickly.

Ultimately, the best choice depends on:

Your specific research interests:

Look at the faculty and research projects in each institution and see which aligns best with your goals.

Your preferred learning environment:

Do you prefer a research-focused, intensive environment or a more diverse and collaborative one?

Your career goals:

While all three institutions offer excellent career prospects, consider which one aligns best with your aspirations (academia, industry, etc.).

Recommendation:

Talk to current students and faculty:

This is the best way to get a feel for the culture and research environment at each institution.

Compare the faculty:

Look at the faculty members' research areas and publications to see if they align with your interests.

Consider your priorities:

Think about what is most important to you in a PhD program (e.g., research quality, faculty mentorship, resources, location).

is PhD from TIFR hyderabad in chemistry better than IISc, IISERs?

gopi 28th May, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

Whether you should go for TIFR Hyderabad, IISc, or IISERs for a PhD in Chemistry depends on multiple aspects, including your interests, faculty expertise, other faculties, facilities, and the career goals you have.

  • TIFR Hyderabad is a well-known institute that focuses on advanced research and interdisciplinary research collaborations. It gives students a research-driven environment, which is conducive to focusing and planning for their research agenda. Moreover, TIFR has the research resources that make it a better, exceptional destination because of the access to infrastructure and people.
  • IISc Bangalore is the topmost science and engineering institute in India, considering its history, the best of best faculty, one of the best research facilities, and the diversity/exposure. IISc has proven globally that it is one of the best institutes if you would like to consider broad exposure and multiple diverse faculties.
  • Even though IISERs (IISER Pune, IISER Kolkata, etc.) are relatively new as institutions, they are growing at a fast pace, focus on science education and research, and they have the research mission that promotes and provides a large number of interdisciplinary relationships that provide a supportive academic culture.

Overall, "better" really depends on what your specific research interests are, who you want to work with, and the type of research responsive culture that best suits you. Ultimately, all three offer great opportunities for a PhD in Chemistry.

i have scored 50 out of 100 in aliah entrance test and 82 in chemistry of class 12 wheather i will get admission or not

kumardurgesh1802 26th May, 2025

Hello there,

With a score of 50 out of 100 in the Aliah University Admission Test (AUAT) 2025 and 82% in Class 12 Chemistry , your chances of securing admission to the B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry program at Aliah University are moderate to good , depending on the overall competition and seat availability.

Key Considerations:

  • AUAT Score: A score of 50 suggests a competitive performance, but the final admission depends on the overall merit list and cutoff marks, which can vary each year.

  • Class 12 Marks: An 82% score in Chemistry meets the eligibility criteria, which typically requires a minimum of 45-60% in relevant subjects.

    Admission Process:

  • Merit List: Admission is based on the AUAT score and academic performance.

  • Counseling: Qualified candidates will be called for counseling sessions, where seat allotment is done based on rank and preferences.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.

i had taken chemistry as a domain subject in CUET. and i got RT in chemistry in boards exam so when i fill the CSAS for councelling they ask me fill academic qualification so what should I do

kumardurgesh1802 25th May, 2025

Hello there,

If you have taken Chemistry as a domain subject in CUET but have an RT (Re-totaling) result pending for Chemistry in your board exam, here is what you should do when filling the CSAS for counseling:

  • Mention your latest available board result . If your final Chemistry marks are not yet declared, enter the marks you currently have.

  • In case the board allows, you can update your marks later once the re-totaling result is out.

  • Keep proof of your re-totaling application ready in case the counseling authority requests it.

  • If the portal does not allow you to proceed without marks, you may contact the counseling helpdesk for guidance on how to proceed.

Always provide honest and accurate information based on your current status. Updating your marks later, if allowed, is common in such cases.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.

i got RT in chemistry but my overall result is paas because of my additional subject, i had given the cuet ug exam so after the exam what should i fill in CSAS registration form when they ask about my academics qualification

Rohan 25th May, 2025

Since your overall result is "Pass" (even with RT in Chemistry, due to an additional subject), you should select "Passed" as your academic qualification in the CSAS UG registration form .

Fill subject details as per your marksheet , including the additional subject that helped you pass.

Subject-wise Class 12 marks are usually not required unless a program demands them.

Official guidance: CSAS UG – Careers360

Can RT Compartment Chemistry be Taken with the Business Administration Program?

1. Most Universities require the following to be eligible for BBA:

You must have completed Class 12 in Science, Commerce or Arts.

Compartment Rules:

Many colleges will accept you, despite having a pass in Chemistry alone.

Clearance: Pass the compartment exam within 1 year after beginning your course.

2. College-Specific Policies:

Some top private colleges in India are NMIMS, Christ and IPU.

They might give you temporary admission if you show up again for Chemistry.

A few universities expect you to pass every subject at the time of applying.

For example, the: DU from Delhi University and Mumbai University

You may be permitted review if you clear the compartment by the time classes end for the year.

Check the detailed circulars for information on the 2024-25 academic year.

3. Here’s what you should keep in mind:

Contact certain colleges and find out if they accept provisional admission for compartment students.

Enroll in Compartment Exams: Clear Chemistry without delay, because the next round will usually be held in July-August 2024.

Backup Options:

These schools may make it a little bit simpler for a foreign candidate to be qualified.

4. Important Files You Should Keep:

Class 12 marksheet that has ‘related to technology’

Compartment admit card must be generated if a candidate reappears for exams.

Sports/Category certificates (when they exist).

Final Verdict

You are able to seek admission in BBA in a range of colleges, but always check the policies with your shortlisted institutes.

It’s important to empty your Chemistry locker as soon as you can to avoid future problems.
